Mr. Levy (too humble to be addressed as Dr.) was the great prof. I had in college because he cared. Writing lessons will never leave me, and have changed the way I think. Also took ED200, which was more excellence. He pushes because it produces better work and students. Complainers here are immature and unprepared. Evidence: misspelled reviews!
ED 200 with Mr. Levy was a great experience for me. I had been undecided about going into teaching, but this course convinced me I was heading in the right direction. Mr. Levy was a fine role model, a source of encouragement and insight.
Mr. Levy had one of the most complete course guides I received in college. The course direction, goals, and expectations could not have been clearer. Guest speakers--former students and veteran teachers--added a lot. Mostly, I gained from Mr. Levy's guidance and fieldwork. He cared deeply--about all his students, it seemed to me.
I had Mr. Levy for a pre-education class in the 90's and have been a high school teacher for over 10 years. A friend checking this site was unimpressed by some immature comments and suggested I write. Levy my great teacher at Delta and elsewhere--passionate about teaching and my learning. I think about him often and recall his advice.
The great prof. I had at Delta. He is what a college prof. is suppose to be, intelligent, dedicated, accommodating, engaging and tough in his own way. I wish he were still there.
great prof. I had at Delta College. He helped me become a better writer, and instilled confidence in my abilities and goals for the future. He is the perfect example of a prof. who goes beyond the norm to ensure the success of his students.
Mr. Levy was my first prof. at Delta and by far the great. He really cared about his students, all of them. He didn't pick favorites, just reached out to students that reached out to him. I was sad to see him retire and if he was still teaching, I would recommend him to every student I know!
Honestly, I dreaded this class--because it pushed me. I wanted to arrive late--on days I knew I hadn't put in effort. Conferences were intimidating--because he was honest. Was the class great? I wish it hadn't been my first college course, because others now seem dull. Was Mr Levy a great prof.? Even retired I still proudly call him my teacher.
If it was not for Levy, I would not have pushed myself or believed that I could accomplish what I have. He made me draft and revise until I developed strong analytical skills, giving me confidence for two bachelor and two MA degrees. He's not simple, but he's honest and loves his work. The bad ratings sound like disgruntled high school moanings.
I can't say I truly believed in myself prior to Mr. Levy's courses. It was difficult & when you tried he acknowledged it; it wasn't favoritism, but recognition. His genuine care about students meant he let us know when we could've done better. I didn't come to college to have my hand held & Mr. Levy didn't. Quality makes him an excellent teacher.
A friend and I took prof. Levy for our first courses in college. It was more demanding than what we were used to and apparently difficulter than what other students experienced in similar courses. However, we felt fortunate. It paid off in other courses. Can't figure why some others did not appreciate what he offered. He was exceptional.
Probably the great prof. I had in college and university. He challenged me but was always honest, impartial, accommodating, and available. Suspect the negative students lacked maturity, weren't ready for this bright, talented teacher.
I liked this class. We covered poetry (which was great!), a personal essay, and an assignment that we got to come up with ourselves. If you've had him for 111, the class is very similar, logging and repitious story-teling will entail, but so will works you will feel proud of. Great teacher- knows his things.
I took Larry for both English 111 and 112 and he is one of the great prof.s at Delta. It's too bad he is retiring. :(
terrible. Super difficult grader. If you don't email him you won't get a great grade. Spends 90% of class time talking about himself. Class time is seriously a waste of time, don't even need it. Picks favorites and its very clear |
